Webinar: Expanded Opportunities for Peripheral Neuropathy Researchers 2023

The Foundation for Peripheral Neuropathy (FPN) invited peripheral neuropathy researchers to attend a webinar featuring Cecilia Dupecher, Ph.D., for the Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP) at the U.S. Army’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP).

The purpose of this webinar is to educate the peripheral neuropathy research community about the opportunities for research funding from the PRMRP. Dr. Cecilia Dupecher, the PRMRP Program Manager will provide an overview of the program with information about how to apply for grants, how applications are evaluated, and other details of this year’s grant cycle.

Background and Purpose
Over the last three years, Congress has enacted the fiscal year Omnibus Appropriations Act which included a provision that makes “peripheral neuropathy” an eligible condition for study from the Department of Defense’s Peer Reviewed Medical Research Program (PRMRP).

Established by Congress to study multiple topics across the full range of science and medicine, the PRMRP is funded by Congress this year with an appropriation of $370 million. In the first year of eligibility, eight of 41 projects that focused on PN were awarded, which resulted in over $8 million in funding. In 2022, three of 28 applications were awarded funding totaling more than $4.6 million for PN grants. In the coming weeks, the PRMRP will be releasing requests for pre-applications (RFAs) for the FY23 award program.

Webinar held live March 8, 2023.
